Saturday October 7 afternoon, the lobby of the Studio République cinema took on an unusual appearance. Film posters for sale, flipbook manufacturing workshop, visits to the projection booth, discussions with staff and members of the Studio République Cinema Management Association (AGCSR) and even presentations of upcoming cinematographic events invaded the premises . Visitors, including new residents, (re)discovered a cultural place accessible to all and very involved in local life.

« This is an opportunity for us to communicate on all our activities linked to the screening of films, in partnership with local associations and structures and aimed at all audiences, schools, people with disabilities, etc. “, explains Véronique Champigny, the director. Not far away, sitting at a children’s table, Hugo Goby, cultural mediator, arrived at the end of August. After completing his master’s degree at the Lyon cinema faculty, he applied for this vacant position following the departure of his predecessor. Originally from Quimper, the young man quickly made his mark in the Blancois city! Its missions, which it shares with the Buzançais and Argenton cinemas, are essentially aimed at young audiences.
A short film with the college
« There is a cinema option at the Collège des Ménigouttes, run by Catherine Dumont, literature professor. Her project is to make a short film. I will work on editing, sound and stop motion,” explains Hugo Goby. But currently, he is working on preparing the “Demon’s Night #11” Halloween special, with influencers, film-loving high school students whom he would like to invest more and differently in the programming. This is also without counting on the monitoring and reception of schoolchildren as part of the “School, middle and high school at the cinema” system, the animations to be invented for 1,2,3… Cinema! “Having a direct relationship with the public, being in a cinema, in a good atmosphere pleases me”, confides Hugo… And the cinema also offers the possibility of seeing films at a reduced price, with a subscription card!
