DayFR Euro

sits down to eat all weekend

Saturday October 12 and Sunday October 13, 2024, “ at the table!” puts Norman gastronomy, local talents and local products in the spotlight in this new international event. A great way to celebrate Rouen’s membership in the UNESCO network of creative cities, in the “Gastronomy” category.

The streets of downtown Rouen are transformed into a giant market this weekend. The Belly Festival and its around 220 local producers are spread out between the streets of Jeanne-d’Arc, Rollon, Guillaume-le-Conquérant aux Ours, and the places of la Pucelle, du Vieux-Marché and du Maréchal-Foch. The best products within reach of your basket. The youngest – but not only – will find a mini-farm in the shadow of the courthouse. The right time and the best place to taste oysters, jams, smoked meats or even raw or sweet cider.

But that’s not all! This year, the gastronomic event organized by Rouen Tourisme, the City of Rouen and Vitrines de Rouen takes on another dimension. Several appointments are added to the menu:

  • The Big BreakfastSaturday October 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., on the cathedral square (full).
  • The Gastronomic RallySaturday October 12 from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the city center (€39, last places available on Visitouen.com).
  • From the painting to the plateSaturday October 12 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the Odas restaurant (full).
  • A Battle of the Chefswith local talents and from around the world, Saturday October 12 from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., on the square in front of the cathedral. Free access subject to availability.
  • Cooking classes by École FauchonSaturday October 12 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., on the cathedral square (full).
  • Un Brunch gourmandoffered by Rouf, on Sunday October 13 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., on the square in front of the cathedral (€39, places available at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Visitouen.com).
  • A big snackSunday October 13, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Place des Emmurées (€9 adults, €7 under 12s, places available on Visitouen.com).

This is one of the advantages of the territory. But UNESCO studied the Rouen issue carefully before integrating it into its network. And gastronomy is not only the products, it is also the training possible in Rouen and the surrounding area, the local talents obviously, but also the steps taken for meals in the canteen for young people from Rouen, integration or even concerns about the agricultural sector, animal welfare or the importance of soil and cultivation. For all these reasons, is part of this network, and now exchanges with cities around the world, to improve certain practices and share what works here. In the meantime, this weekend, all of Rouen is coming to the table!

Please note: some streets in the city center are not accessible to vehicles, diversions have been put in place. Parking is also prohibited on the streets affected by the event during the event.
