It was out of love that Annie Dominski-Mérille left for Le Bocage because she had met her husband. It was again out of love that she wrote this work. Love for his village, Saint-Pierre-Tarentaine (Souleuvre en Bocage). Former municipal councilor and deputy mayor in 2014, Annie Dominski-Mérille has never stopped devoting herself to her municipality.

In 2018, she carried out research on Poilus de Souleuvre, as part of the commemorations. This is the starting point of a long work which will lead to the publication of her book. “I didn’t set out for that,” she confides.

The murder of the village priest

But the fruit of her research not having been completely used, it was by reopening a cover in 2020 that she looked at all the documents collected and archived until then

It was the mayor who is a friend who was the trigger

The novice in history and literature then launched a call to collect other photos and testimonies about the village. She does not hide her immediate passion for certain stories that she discovers like the murder of the priest of Saint-Pierre-Tarentaine or the haunted church.

A hundred copies

His work allows him to identify a host of elements which retrace the history of the village and basic information on its demographic evolution in particular or even on Arclais.

After confinement, his new one, Anselme Dominski, gave him a hand with the layout. The delegated mayor writes the preface and presto, all that remains is to self-publish the book.

It’s done now. Around a hundred copies are on sale, at the Pruvost bookstore in Vire, at Mme Mounier, florist in Beny-Bocage or on order by calling the author directly and even on the Souleuvre en Bocage site.

But the story may not end there. Indeed, the multiple contacts made over all these years have allowed Annie Dominski-Mérille to continue to collect new documents.

I don’t close the door. I am always looking for information on Saint-Pierre-Tarentaine

A second volume may be available in a few years. To be continued in any case.
