Fifty years after the cult erotic film with Sylvia Kristel, Emmanuelle returns to the big screen in front of Audrey Diwan’s camera. With Noémie Merlant in the lead role.
Director of The Event, Audrey Diwan shakes up the codes and shifts the gaze on the icon who, in her version, tries to reconquer her desire and her pleasure. While she judges the customer experience in a Hong Kong palace, she meets a man who, by constantly escaping her, summons in her what she thought was lost. And the filmmaker films a woman holding her breath who, by living only in the control and manufactured pleasure of luxury hotels, can no longer let go and free herself from the injunctions to performance.
