Invited to “90s Con Florida” on September 14, Heather Lockler returned to her brief romance with Tom Cruise. A more or less embarrassing encounter and… without a future.
You may not have known this, but Heather Locklear and Tom Cruise dated in the 1980s. And the actress remembers this romance very well. Present alongside his comrades of the soap opera “Melrose Place” At “90s Con Florida” in Daytona Beach last Saturday, she recalled their rather comical meeting at an audition 40 years ago.
“We both auditioned for the movie ‘Two of Us,’ and I was like, ‘Oh my God, I suck,'” Locklear said, before joking, “He was even worse!” The “Dynasty” star also recalled ironically that neither of them got the part.

A single meeting… without follow-up
Following this audition, the two young 20-year-old actors, then at the beginning of their careers, met again. But, during a visit by the actor to her home, accompanied by Sean Penn, Heather Locklear was somewhat put off by Tom Cruise’s extreme politeness, she who was rather the type “rock and roll” : “He was very nice, but he was very ‘yes, ma’am’ with me, and I would say, ‘Okay, sir’.” […]. At the time he was like a little boy, I felt a little older,” she explained.

Still, the two actors shared a date: “We went dancing at Club Lingerie at the time and, I’ve said this before, but he was really cute,” Heather Locklear recalled. On the dance floor, the actress even got a sneak peek at Tom Cruise’s dancing – in his shirt, boxers and socks – in the 1983 film “Risky Business.”

Already in 2013, on Chelsea Handler’s talk show, Heather Locklear had returned to this unexpected evening. “I don’t even think we kissed. It remained very friendly.” The actress finally distanced herself from Tom Cruise and did not follow up on this early romance.

From “Melrose Place” to “Un Amour infini”: auditions finally successful
Following this rapprochement with Tom Cruise, Heather Locklear married Tommy Lee in 1986, before landing the role of Amanda Woodward in the cult series “Melrose Place” in 1992. The actress then divorced the drummer and remarried Richie Sambora in 1994, with whom she had daughter Ava (25), before divorcing again twelve years later.
In 2020, Heather Locklear announced her engagement to her high school sweetheart Chris Heisser. A companion who helped her through her addiction and depression issues that led her to specialist clinics on several occasions.
Tom Cruise also had a busy love life: a first marriage to Mimi Rogers which ended in 1990, a second to Nicole Kidman, with whom he adopted Isabella Jane and Connor (31 and 29 years old), before divorcing in 2001. He then remarried in 2006 to Katie Holmes, who is the mother of his youngest daughter Suri (18 years old), with another divorce pronounced in 2012.
