How to fill a hole in a placo wall?

Cheap and very easy to use, placo is often used in home interiors, to make partitions among other things. However, made of plaster and cardboard between which concrete is poured, placo can easily deteriorate and be perforated in the event of an impact. So here is how to fill a hole in a placo wall.

Small holes that can occur in a placo wall are easy to repair. You will get a clean result if you take the time to sand the area around the hole well with sandpaper (180 grit). Use a ready-mixed filler and apply it to the hole with a putty knife, filling the hole. Run the spatula again to remove the excess and smooth the area, and let dry. Using a wide-bladed knife, apply a finishing coat. Finish by sanding with sandpaper (240 grit).

If the hole in your placo wall is particularly large, you will need to start by removing the pieces of wall that remain crumbly all around the hole. You can do this with a scraper or a cutter. The following steps are the same as for a smaller hole (180 sandpaper, generous application of filler), but you will need to finish by covering the filled area with a strip of calico (joint tape) that should largely cover the area.
