The jury of the Venice Film Festival revealed its prize list this Saturday, September 7, 2024 with Pedro Almodovar winning the prestigious Golden Lion for “The Room Next Door”. Vincent Lindon was crowned best actor for his role in “Playing with Fire”, where he plays a father facing the radicalization of his son. At 65, this iconic actor of French cinema received this award with great emotion. The Silver Lion – Grand Jury Prize was awarded to “Vermiglio” by Maura Delpero.

Among the other winners, Nicole Kidman shone, winning the Volpi Cup for best actress for her daring role in “Babygirl,” a post-#MeToo erotic thriller in which she doesn’t hesitate to break her glamorous image. As for Brady Corbet, he won the award for best director for “The Brutalist,” a monumental work of more than three hours about an architect who survived the Holocaust.

Finally, Paul Kircher, a promising young actor, was awarded the Marcello Mastroianni Prize for Most Promising Actor for his performance in “Their Children After Them”, confirming the new wave of French cinema.
