The irreverent comedy series will return later than expected. Its creators are tired of making fun of Donald Trump and prefer to wait until after the election.
Fans of South Park will have to be patient. The creators of the animated series, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, revealed Thursday in the columns of Vanity Fair that the series would not return until 2025.
This delay is “voluntary,” insisted Trey Parker and Matt Stone. They do not want to discuss the 2024 American presidential election in the new season and, above all, believe that they no longer know how to parody Donald Trump.
“Hard to do”
“We tried to produce episodes of South Park “It’s been a long time coming for four or five presidential elections and it’s so hard to do,” Stone said. “It’s really complex to talk about and it’s becoming more and more important.”
“Obviously it’s a very important topic, but it takes over everything and we’re not as amused by it,” Parker added. “I don’t know what else you could say about Donald Trump.”
In 2017, the two creators had already indicated that they no longer wanted to make fun of Donald Trump. “It’s really tricky now that satire has become reality,” Trey Parker confided in the australian show 7.30 on ABC.
Six episodes
The latest season to date of South Parkthe 26th, consisting of six episodes, was broadcast in 2023. Parker and Stone have since broadcast three special episodes including one titled The end of obesity who denounced slimming pills last May.
