The adaptation of Alexandre Dumas’ novel, with Pierre Niney in the role of the vengeful hero, continues ten weeks after its release to top the weekly attendance charts in France with 7.7 million spectators.
The adaptation of the Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas, starring Pierre Niney as Edmond Dantès, still tops the box office, with 7.7 million admissions, followed by Jamais plus – It Ends With Us et Emilia Perezaccording to CBO box office data as of Wednesday, September 4, 2024.
In theaters for ten weeks, this feature film by Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de La Patellière, the third biggest success of the year in France, has again achieved more than 368,500 admissions this week. It is very close to the number of spectators of the 1955 version with Jean Marais (7.8 million), according to CBO data.

In second place, Jamais plus – It Ends With Usbased on the best-selling novel by American writer Colleen Hoover, by and starring Justin Baldoni, with the star of Gossip Girl Blake Lively, recorded some 259,700 admissions last week, for a total of over 861,800 spectators over three weeks.
For its second week, Jacques Audiard’s musical comedy Emilia Perez» attracted over 192,000 spectators (448,815 in total) and took 3rd place at the box office. This film won the Jury Prize at the last Cannes Film Festival, as well as a historic collective acting award for American stars Zoe Saldana and Selena Gomez as well as the transgender lead actress Karla Sofía Gascon.
Buoyed by the popularity of stars Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) and Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), the latest Marvel Deadpool & Wolverine comes in 4th place in France with just over 186,700 new viewers, for a total of 3.4 million in six weeks.
