It’s the little madeleine of the new school year. While we think the outdoor festival season has been put off until the following spring, the Roussy garden in La Tour-de-Peilz, a small shaded paradise on the shores of Lake Geneva, is transformed for a weekend into a temple of alternative music. Choosing quality (five bands per evening) and conviviality (1,200 tickets on sale each day) over quantity, the Nox Orae – “the night of the shore” in Latin – has, since its launch in 2010, established itself as an unmissable event for lovers of good sounds.

Arthur Halbritter joined the committee of the Nox Orae Association in 2020 – “not a very good year for festivals,” he laughs. When we reached him a little over twenty-four hours before the launch of the 14th edition of the festival this Thursday, he is philosophical: “It’s always the same thing: it’s moving slowly, but we get there in the end…” For the second time, “la Nox”, as its loyal fans call it, despite its human scale, is offering two stages, one large and one small, in order to limit waiting between concerts. This also gives smaller groups a chance.
