Comedian Guillaume Bats has died at the age of 36. He was known for his caustic humor and self-mockery about his physical disability. The causes of death have not been made public.

It was through a message on his Facebook page that his death was announced. Comedian Guillaume Bats has died at the age of 36. “We do not yet know the cause of this tragic event,” the message read.

Guillaume Bats was known for his caustic humor but also for his physical handicap, which he made fun of. He was born with brittle bone disease also known as osteogenesis imperfecta. A disease that could cause repeated fractures.

First part of Jérémy Ferrari

Guillaume Bats made a name for himself by opening for several comedians such as Anthony Kavanagh, Jean-Marie Bigard or the Count of Bouderbala. He rose to popularity by opening for Jérémy Ferrari’s Zénith tour. The two comedians had become close friends.

Guillaume Bats had been playing alone on stage since 2018. The show “Hors cadre” was produced by Jérémy Ferrari and Eric Antoine. He had embarked on a new tour, called “Inchallah”, at the beginning of April 2023. He was to play several evenings at the off festival this summer.

Placed in nursery

Guillaume Bats had mentioned his difficult life course in an interview with Here is in 2019. “When I was born, I stayed less than a year with my mother. She did not assume, and I found myself in a nursery until the age of 4,” he explained. Subsequently, he had suffered bullying in middle school and high school. But humor had allowed him to build a shell against repeated attacks: “I no longer let others form an opinion about me, I went to them”.
