Vietnamese New Year, the Tet festival will be celebrated in the coming days in Asia and almost everywhere in France. For members of the Cafi community and for all French people from Indochina living in the town, it will be a new opportunity to come together and share their culture.
The dragon, symbol of strength, courage and wisdom, will meet on the town hall square, this Wednesday, January 29 at 12 p.m., “to wish the entire population a happy new year and to hunt the evil geniuses,” explains a manager of the Reception Center for French people in Indochina.
Each Vietnamese New Year is associated with an astrological sign which symbolically represents an animal. This year, it is the snake, “a sign of wisdom and perseverance. The large Vietnamese community of Sainte-Livrade, most of whose members reside at the Cafi, is proud and happy to share this moment of traditional celebration with the entire population of Livrad and the territory,” recall the officials.
Dancing meal on February 8
A friendly drink will be offered by the municipality at the end of the ceremony. Those responsible for Saigon, the Cafi grocery store-restaurant, also invite the public to celebrate “the new year of the wooden snake with us, and come and eat on site at lunchtime”. A dragon dance will be available at 2 p.m., “followed by a friendly moment with a complimentary drink”, specify the managers of the establishment.
Note that the members of the Association of Friends and Residents of the Cafi are also organizing, with those of the Livradaise association Art’Cadence, an event around the Tet festival. They will meet everyone on Saturday February 8, around a dancing meal (1), at the Charles-de-Cacqueray multipurpose room.
