CRITIQUE – Based on the 37 Renaissance engineering drawings as well as on digital imagery, the exhibition details on screen the process of creating the master.

Pupil of the painter David, the author of Coronation of napoleonthe knight Jean-Baptiste Wicar (1732-1834) is one of the first conservatives of the Louvre. As such, he contributed to fueling this palace which became a museum during the European wars, in particular, in particular traversing the Italian peninsula to “requisition” the best. On the spot, Wicar “worked” also for him, acquiring from the old Roman families of the drawings of ancient masters. Starting with these 37 Raphaël sheets, all perfectly autographs, bequeathed to the learned company of -its hometown-, and that the Palais des Beaux-Arts presents today for the first time entirely (the 16 rectos versos being each exhibited in a biofed window).
