On January 16, the UIVCCL met with the wine world, very early in the morning, at a place called Peyrou in Luzech, in the vineyard plots for a demonstration in the fight against frost with the arrival of the Pulsfog company which markets the Viti-Protect K 30 and the K 50. It is with the latter that the demonstration took place in the presence of nearly a hundred wine growers.
The equipment is a thermal fogging machine, it is a machine that is mounted on a tractor, the method of direct application of artificial fog in order to prevent heat loss from the ground and maintain a positive temperature. The implementation of the fog is produced by the machine with a mixture of water, vegetable oil and trace elements. The machine generates a thick and persistent mist, application must begin at 0° humid or 1° and no wind. The amount of fog to apply for good protection requires a very dense layer to block heat loss from the surface at night. The machine can cover an area of 16 to 20 hectares in approximately 2 hours. Consumption is 14 liters of gasoline per hour and approximately 40 liters of products. The machine has a horizontal and vertical rotating barrel.
