While the wounds of the Great War were not healed, the Second World War once again put Europe, then the world, at the end of the 1930s, on fire and blood. It is in this context that the Confederation is setting up a program intended to “underline specifically Swiss values in order to repel the totalitarian ideologies of Germany and Italy”. The Bernese Franz Schnyder creates in this context Gilberte de Courgenaybased on the true story of a Jura waitress boosting the morale of the troops based in the Jura during 14-18. In the title role, the Romande Anne-Marie Blanc, the first great star of Swiss cinema.
