Mr. Laymouri noted, in this sense, that the organization of the 2030 World Cup and the 2025 African Cup pushes the Council to accelerate the rate of implementation of the programs and projects planned, especially in the field of transportation.

According to Mr. Laymouri, the municipal council, through the inter -municipal cooperation establishment “Al Boughaz” which he chairs, has decided to extend the delegated management contract with the company in charge of the transport sector for a transitional period, in View of developing an integrated project in the matter, which promotes the experience of urban transport.

To this end, he continued, calls for tenders were launched by the local development company “Tanja Mobility” for the acquisition of hundreds of high quality buses, for an investment of 1.124 billion dirhams ( MMDH), in addition to the launch of the study of the master plan and the project of the first high-quality urban transport bus line in the city of Tangier (Bus fast-BRT).

Regarding accommodation, the municipality of Tangier is part of an integrated system of institutional stakeholders within the framework of the regional investment center, he noted, stressing that the municipality thus undertakes to provide All the facilities and incentives for investors, and works daily to process investment files in order to accelerate the completion of projects in this area.

Regarding the question of road congestion, Mr. Laymouri said that the municipality installed an intelligent road signaling system at the avenues and major roundabouts from Tangier, a decision being part of an integrated plan aimed at solving Problems related to traffic and travel in the city.

This measure was taken on the basis of the careful studies results carried out by an office specializing in the field of transport and urban planning, he explained, noting that the expected results of this system will be felt gradually, since ‘It completes the major projects currently being implemented, like the development of the urban transport network and the improvement of infrastructure related to transport.

This new approach to urban transport will help strengthen the efficiency of public transport, which will relieve pressure at the main avenues and provide lasting solutions to the road congestion problem, he insisted.

In addition, the mayor of Tangier noted that green spaces are one of the vital sectors to which the council of the commune of Tangier attaches great importance, by constantly taking care to improve these spaces to meet the needs of the inhabitants and offer spaces natural in the city.

In view of the development that Tangier knows, where current green spaces reach around 460 hectares, the municipal council allocated these spaces a budget envelope of 79 million dirhams (MDH) during the year 2023, in order to increase The share of green spaces per capita in the city, which currently amounts to 3.15 square meters, to reach the recommended global average of 10 m2 per person, he stressed.

Mr. Laymouri, who also chairs the group of local authorities Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima for the distribution, also noted that this group, composed of 171 members representing the various local authorities of the region, was created within the framework of Organic law n ° 112-14 relating to prefectures and provinces, in order to manage the water, electricity and liquid sanitation distribution services on a regional scale.

The group is currently developing concrete initiatives with the aim of coordinating and implementing projects aimed at improving the quality of these services and ensuring their sustainability, he stressed, saying that with the introduction of this Management mode In two regions of the Kingdom, certain observations have been noted and the group is working to respond proactively to the level of the Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima region.

“We expect this new management method to have a positive impact on the purchasing power of citizens,” he noted, saying that the group, and the regional multi-service company, which will be created in the Framework of this group, will gradually replace the delegate companies and agencies of water services, electricity and liquid sanitation, from June 1, 2025, on the basis of the correspondence of the Minister of the Interior Addressed to the Director General of the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE).
