A winning bet for the Disney studios, who sensed – even before its release – that their animated feature film Vaiana 2 was going to be a hit at the box office: with 445 million dollars in revenue in the United States and 567 million dollars abroad, the film has indeed exceeded the symbolic bar of one billion dollars in worldwide revenue, reports Variety.
Vaiana 2 thus becomes the third feature film released in 2024 and produced by Disney to reach this symbolic threshold, after Vice-Versa 2 (1.7 billion in global revenue) and Deadpool & Wolverine (1.3 billion). And it does better than its predecessor Vaiana, The Legend of the End of the World (2016) which had “only” raked in $700 million.
