Katia Grain, aka Tchoo choo girl, a 27-year-old train driver who talks about her daily life on social networks, came first in the vote for personality of the year from the Molsheim and Obernai region, organized by the editorial staff of DNA.
The one who lived in Urmatt before moving to the Eurometropolis was in the lead at the start of the voting week, then was overtaken by Bernard Bour, to whom we owe the rebirth of Fort de Mutzig. She came back way ahead at the end of the week, winning with 48% of the votes, without using the weight of her communities on social networks (24,000 people on X, 16,000 on Instagram).
You win the honorary title of Personality of the Year for our Internet users. What does this do to you?
I still have imposter syndrome, there are several other profiles that would have deserved it. But I’m very happy if what I share about my personal life can make people smile, make people laugh and make people want to take the train. I also realize that I am starting to have a little visibility. I sometimes receive 100 messages a week.
Are you looking to send a message through your activity on the networks?
-
Initially, not at all! I just wanted to share what I was doing. But today, I, who initially wanted to become a lawyer, am developing a bit of this combat side, to fight against prejudice: whether you are a man, a woman or a non-binary person, if you want, you can do this job.
Is it still difficult to be a woman in this profession?
No, it’s not difficult. But there are always these prejudices or this ordinary sexism. People don’t do it on purpose. But for example, I have been an instructor for four months and if I have a male trainee next to me, we will talk to him. It’s not a big deal, but I want to help change that.
