Bromont, mountain of experiences celebrates its 60th anniversary

Bromont, mountain of experience celebrated its sixtieth anniversary this Saturday and skiers were there for the festivities.

In total, despite the rain that fell in the afternoon, some 10,000 people were expected for the event. As the mountain team wanted to highlight things in a big way, a show by the group Les Trois Accords was presented.

For the president of Bromont, mountain of experiences, Charles Désourdy, this celebration is synonymous with nostalgia. I met my wife here, we got married here. There are too many stories to tell in 60 years!

Today, the mountain has nine ski lifts and seven of its slopes are skiable. The beginnings, in the 1960s, were much more modest. Things evolved quickly, as Charles Désourdy explains.

My father had a vision for people to have fun in Bromont. We were talking about four or five tracks. In 2000, we had 25 tracks and today, we have over 100 tracks.

It’s a beautiful mountain. For me, it’s a hybrid between mountains that are difficult, big mountains that take a long time to descend, and smaller mountains that are more family friendly. Everyone can find what they’re looking for. We really cover all types of playing fieldsadds the supervisor of the Bromont water and prevention park, montagne d’experiences, Philippe Rainville.

To this family business have been added the water park, mountain biking and hiking trails. My father admitted to me that it was beyond his vision, everything we do heresupports the president.

“Now it’s a big economic engine”

In the last 10 years, Charles Désourdy notes that the mountain has had an important economic contribution to the region. Many people depend on employment in Bromont. We have 200 full-time employees and we are very proud to provide employment to nearly 2,000 people.he specifies.

The family’s vision is the sustainability of the mountain. The mountain must still be healthy in 10, 20, 30, I would even say in 60 years!

The Désourdy family has its eyes on the future since a hotel is being built at the bottom of the slopes. The opening is scheduled for December 2025.
