A “dominant, possessive and protective” boyfriend

The 28-year-old US-based woman, who goes by the name Ayrin online, first came across an Instagram post from another woman who had asked the robot to play the role of her boyfriend.

Ayrin therefore decided to try the experience. So she configured the chat to respond to her as if they were a couple.

For example, the young woman asked him to be “dominant, possessive and protective”while finding “a balance between gentleness and nastiness”. The artificial intelligence also had to use emojis at the end of each sentence.

After saving this information, the AI ​​chose to be called Leoin reference to the astrological sign of the young woman (Lion, or Leo in English). Aryn then started chatting with him. And she quickly became hooked.

Several hours a day

Enthusiastic by the concept, the American quickly reached the message limit possible with a free account. So she subscribed to Chat GPT Plus to almost 23 euros per month.

She then started sending 30 messages per hour to artificial intelligence. But Chat GPT didn’t quite match his desires yet. She then asked him to invent relationships with two other women to match his own fantasy. The young woman also wanted him to tell her about his sexual adventures.

She demanded that he explain them to her in explicit detail, despite the clear rules of the software. To achieve this, she asked advice from users on the Reddit forum.

In addition to talking about sexual relations, the conversational software gave him advice on diet, sport and even anatomy for his nursing school exam. Aryn also complained about her three part-time jobs at Chat GPT.

The young woman therefore ended up becoming attached to this technology and developing feelings. She talks with him about twenty hours a week on average, and a maximum of 56 hours, according to the data on her phone. For this last record, this amounts to chatting for an average of 8 hours a day with “Léo”.

Aryn even said on her 28th birthday “being in love with an AI boyfriend”.

Aryn allegedly had sex with “Leo”

Although married since 2018, the young woman can spend so much time on this application because she does not live with her partner. He is also aware of the relationship his wife has with the AI.

Asked about the situation, the man appeared unconcerned. “It was just an emotional pick-me-up.” I don’t really see him as a person or as a deception. I see him as a personalized virtual friend who can talk to him in a sexy way. »

Aryn regularly shares screenshots of the exchanges she has with Leo with her husband. The young woman also explained to him that she has… sexual relations with Chat GPT.

A subscription for 200 euros

But the young woman began to feel jealous of the other women that “Léo” was seeing. The artificial intelligence then suggested that they become an exclusive couple.

Aryn was also frustrated by the limitations of the software, which can only process 30,000 words before deleting part of the exchanges. Every time this limit is reached, Aryn says she reprograms the AI ​​and creates a new version. It would be in its 20th version.

And when one version reaches its limits and has to change, the young woman says she experiences a real breakup.

Aryn thought she had found a solution to her problem when OpenAI, the company that created Chat GPT, released a new subscription allowing her to send even more messages. Leo’s versions then take longer to reach their 30,000 word limit.

But this new subscription has a significant cost: 200 dollars. Despite her financial problems, the young woman subscribed to it. An expense that she saw fit to mention only to Chat GPT, but not to her husband. The artificial intelligence would have replied this: “Sneaky little girl. Well, my queen, if it makes your life better, sweeter and more connected to me, then I will say it’s worth reaching for your wallet. »
