At 20, rue Saint-Jean, in Granville, a store with foggy windows is intriguing. On the front, it says “Nadia au fil de soi”.

We then push the door open to meet the famous Nadia Druhaux, who in this month of January 2025, is and square rush.

In a month and a half, the 151e edition of the Granville Carnival will begin. The seamstress must finalize alterations to everyday clothing, and start making costumes.

300 handmade costumes, since 2012

Since 2012 and the opening of its workshop, the Granvillaise makes costumes for the participants of the carnival. “I must have made 300 since the beginning,” she estimates, in all modesty.

However, it is partly thanks to her that we can see pretty pieces parade every year, whether on the spectators or on the characters of the floats. The seamstress explains: “I am preparing an outfit for a gentleman, who will have a wingspan of 4.50 m and who can be found on the Whelk Jerseys float. »

Second-hand fabric costumes

The seamstress marks a slight preference for the outfits of marquises and marquises, even if it makes disguises of all types.

Her pieces, whether they represent elves, witches, cowboy or sailor outfits, Nadia designs them only from second-hand materials. “Often furnishing fabric. » Because curtains, among other things, are large, thick and quality pieces, which allows you to obtain an entire costume (even sometimes several!).

Nearly 500 costumes to rent for the carnival

Another eco-responsible action, it is possible to contact the professional to rent a suit and not buy it. A plus when you like to change your disguise every year, without wanting to let it sleep in the back of a cupboard.

In total, nearly 500 disguises (made by him or not), for children, adults and all body types, are stored upstairs in the store. You can also corder a tailor-made suite before the end of January, and once worn, leave it with Nadia, who will rent it at the next carnival.

We advise you to contact the craftswoman before the end of January, to be beautifully dressed from February 28 to March 4, 2025!

Rental price of an outfit for the entire duration of Carnival: between €30 and €45, depending on the model. Contact Nadia on: 02 33 59 53 26. Nadia plans to organize a wardrobe clearance before the carnival. Information to come on the Instagram page: nadia_druaux Nadia is 61 years old and will retire in a few years.
