Three feature films were partly filmed in the public domain of the Bay of Angels, but also four television series or TV films, sixteen documentaries, 26 television programs and even seven advertisements.
Nice, a favorite of filmmakers on the Côte d’Azur. In 2024, the Riviera capital has, once again, hosted a large number of productions, both in the city and at the renowned Victorine studios, located next to the airport. 610 days of filming and photography on public property were recorded, around ten more than the previous year.
The Victorine studios also experienced “a record year” with a total of 540 days of occupation of the platforms, or, on average, 60 days of occupation of nine platforms on the site. Christian Estrosi praises the “cinegeny” of his city and “its power of attraction on national and international productions”. And the mayor (Horizons) added: “Nice is undoubtedly the city of creation and, more particularly, of cinematographic and audiovisual creation. And this is not about to change given the ambition we have for the development of the audiovisual sector in our territory”.
Help with implementation
In figures, for example, three feature films were partly filmed in the public domain of the Bay of Angels, like the film Heads of States, by Ilya Naishuller with John Cena and Idris Elba (Amazon Prime Video) or even The Immortalsby Caroline Deruas and Jihane Chouaib with Lena Garrel, Emmanuelle Béart, Vihina Giocante (release planned in theaters in 2026) and Who Shines in Battle by Joséphine Japy, with Mélanie Laurent and Pierre-Yves Cardinal (also planned for 2026); four television series or TV films; sixteen documentaries; 26 television shows; seven advertisements.
As part of its policy of developing the cinematographic and audiovisual sector, the “estrosist” municipality
provides assistance with rewriting, production and post-production for projects whose script, casting or filming locations contribute to the influence of the region. To benefit from this aid, projects must also use the skills of local professionals.
In 2024, the City provided support for five projects.
