A spokesperson for Brad Pitt reacted to the testimony of Anne, a 53-year-old French woman who believed she was having a long-distance relationship with the American actor, and was defrauded of 830,000 euros.

The barely believable story of Anne, a French interior designer who believed she had a romantic relationship with Brad Pitt, is even being talked about across the Atlantic. The American media relayed the testimony, broadcast on Sunday January 12 in the program Seven to eight on TF1.

Facing the camera, the 53-year-old woman reveals that she interacted for several months with a scammer (a scammer active on the internet) who posed as Brad Pitt by sending him messages in English and photos generated by AI. Manipulated, Anne sent more than 830.00 euros to the fake Brad Pitt who claimed to be suffering from a serious illness and to need money to pay for a kidney transplant.

Do not respond to “unsolicited online requests”

Proof of the extent of the buzz around this totally improbable affair: the real Brad Pitt heard of the story and reacted to it via his spokesperson. The star warns her fans about scammers using her image on social media. “It is regrettable that scammers are taking advantage of the strong connection fans have with celebrities,” assures its representative to the American media Entertainment Weekly. “But this case reminds us that we should not respond to unsolicited online requests, especially from actors who do not have a social media presence.”

This is not the first time that Brad Pitt has reacted to this type of affair. Last September, the ex-husband of Angelina Jolie, now in a relationship with Inès de Ramon, shared the same press release after the arrest in Spain of five crooks who had pretended to be him and had extracted more of 330,000 euros to two women.
