On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Noël Lee, Alexandre Tharaud, Christian Ivaldi, François Le Roux and Jeff Cohen will be, this Wednesday, January 15 at 8 p.m., the guests of the Journal du Classique.
“Noel was a man with heart and told us so. His absolute benevolence and a delicious American accent melted all his friends, who saw him as the most adorable of men. » Thus writes Alexandre Tharaud about the American pianist and composer Noël Lee, who left us 12 years ago and who would have been 100 years old on December 25.
Born in China but of American nationality, he was a student of Nadia Boulanger and settled in Paris while leading a brilliant career. Numerous recordings bear witness to his talent as a soloist and chamber musician, he who loved sharing music so much, notably forming a memorable four-handed duo with Christian Ivaldi or performing alongside numerous singers, including François Le Roux.
Noël Lee, a musician as humble as he is demanding
Alexandre Tharaud, Christian Ivaldi, François Le Roux and Jeff Cohen, who were among his closest friends, will tell us this evening their memories of this musician who was as humble as he was demanding. They will pay tribute to him during a major concert, with a host of other artists, on Monday January 20 at the Salle Cortot.
