An animal is pulled out of a fridge at a grocery store and it’s definitely not the one you expected

A video that went viral on social networks Monday shows the scene where police officers had to intervene in a grocery store because of an animal hidden in a refrigerator.

It was around 9:45 a.m. when law enforcement called for help at an Aldi supermarket in Chicago.

An animal had in fact burst into the grocery store and rushed into the fruit and vegetable section, before finding refuge in a refrigerated counter.

The rest is documented on video:

IT’S A COYOTE!

Contrary to probably everything that is indicated to do in such a situation, a police officer managed to get him out of his hiding place by pulling him by the tail.

What the video doesn’t show very well, however, is that the coyote went back to hide in the refrigerated counter immediately afterwards.

It took the intervention of agents from Chicago Animal Care and Control to get hold of him.

The coyote does not appear to be injured, but will undergo a health assessment by an animal shelter in distress before a decision is made regarding its release into the wild.

In the hours following the incident, the CACC noted that the period from January to March is coyote mating season, a time when the animals are most active as they seek out mates and establish territories.
