Friday, January 10, 2025 in the evening, the opening of Glenn Varez’s exhibition “Mixed techniques” took place at the Guilers media library. The artist, a former diving mechanic in the French Navy, took up art at the end of his career. “I present sculptures, photos, paintings, drawings but also collages. This panel exhibited here represents approximately six years of work,” he says. He continues: “I have a gallery workshop in Guipavas, at 7 rue Mermoz, with 400 m2 of showroom where I can exhibit other artists.”
Around sixty works are presented at the Guilthèque, with an astonishing diversity: “I admit that it can go in all directions with improbable associations. I start from an object that I’m going to associate with another and it comes like that. When I start a drawing, I don’t know what the end result will be. I am inspired by my industrial studies, history, historical photography, computer work, travel…”. Thierry Colas, deputy for culture, greets the artist: “In our world of certainties, only contemporary art allows us to doubt, and Glenn Varez perfectly embodies this spirit.”
