For the Star Academy semi-final, a student performed a performance that made the entire set cry on January 11. Here’s why.

This Saturday, January 11, 2025, it is the first semi-final of Star Academy 2024. It pits Marine against Charles, Ebony having chosen last week to face Franck in the second semi-final. While new dates were announced for this promotion, the performances continued during the show hosted by Nikos Aliagas to try to decide between the two academicians competing for the final.

Recognized for their powerful voices, the young artists shone, whether solo or in duet. Marine notably performed My heart will go on by Céline Dion, a title chosen by the public a few weeks earlier. The two created a painting with Santa and did a duet with the legend Sting. But it is a moment served by Charles who grabbed the whole tray. Aged only 18, he opted for a piece with very strong symbolism…

Star Academy: big emotion for the semi-final

Charles from Star Academy 2024 indeed wanted to resume SOS to an earthling in distressfrom the musical Starmania. Originally performed by Daniel Balavoine, it was sung at the Star Academy by none other than Gregory Lemarchal. Died of cystic fibrosis in 2007, the artist left an indelible mark in the hearts of viewers. On the set, emotion was at its peak.

In a duplex in Pléneuf-Val-André with Charles’ supporters, Mathieu Johann could not hold back his tears. Gregory Lemarchal’s comrade during season 4 of hook spoke: “I can tell you that I am very moved, forgive me. We experienced great moments with Lucie, Karima and you Nikos, and the whole team, 20 years ago with Gregory on this song”. He commented on the level “extraordinaire” from Charles then left the floor to his grandfather who launched a “I love you my little Charlie, my little prince”. And in too, tears flowed.

Charles’ song upsets the TF1 set

Mathieu Johann concluded his speech from : “There is so much emotion (…) We are super moved. Here it’s incredible, chills all over the room”. And while he was speaking, we could see the images Charles’ relatives on the prime set, all in tears. Nikos Aliagas responded live: “I understand your emotion. Karima is also moved behind the scenes. It is also a part of our life”.

For Professor Marlène Schaff too, the emotion was palpable. She referenced an important line from the song, “I don’t want to be a robot”. She commented: “Routine kills us”. Then the teacher couldn’t help but shed a tear at her student’s performance. The evening continued with performances from the latter and his opponent of the day. Who will be in the final against Ebony or Franck? The votes are underway…
