Before delivering the prizes, the President of UNAT, Pascal Boey, indicated on the microphone: “I hope we will still be here next year (Editor’s note: on 3e floor of Vincennes). I hope that this Paris-Vincennes racecourse on which every owner, every amateur, every trainer dreams of racing and winning will always be our flagship racecourse. I hear, here and there, that there could be plans B, C, D… No, the only plan that exists is the sustainability of the Vincennes racecourse. I have no doubt that there is no desire to stay there, but I still have some concerns. So, I hope that the two parties, the SETF and the Paris City Hall, can come to a reasonable agreement so that our flagship racecourse envied throughout the world can remain. Let’s make no mistake, the Trot without Vincennes will no longer be the Trot and we must think carefully about the consequences if we were to live elsewhere. Countries that have abandoned their flagship racecourse no longer have a horse racing industry… Amateurs are very important in the horse racing industry. I would like to point out with pleasure that this Saturday, the Prix de Saint-Flour was, along with the Quinté+, the event which brought together the most runners, and we can only be congratulated for the dynamism of the activity of the amateurs. As such, we had observed a decline in the number of amateurs in recent years, and I note with satisfaction that we have raised the bar and that the figures are starting to rise again.”
