It was at the Triangle, in Rennes, that the 17 was launchedth edition of the Vive la Magie international festival show. A new composition on the theme of Magical Spaces. Objective: to once again captivate young and old children.
This festival, which has gained its stripes from year to year, was created in 2008 by an enthusiast, Gérard Souchet, who died last summer. His wife, Monique, is now the sole producer of this edition, supported by their children. However, there is no question of stopping: the festival will continue to make its audience dream.
Rennes: the international magic festival has more than one trick up its sleeve
Quality artists have been selected to offer a breathtaking show. Monique Souchet explains that before asking magicians, the couple always attended a performance to form their own opinion. At the end of the shows, they exchanged their feelings and only took the artist ”if they both agreed”.
We only choose artists who have given Gérard and me a magical emotion.

Preparing for a festival of this scale begins very early, even before the last performances of the previous edition. Thus, this 2025 edition will be the last with the founder’s touch.
A spirit of conviviality and a good atmosphere which attracts artists. This is also why the magician Michel Huot did not hesitate to agree to participate in the festival when he was asked.
“People always talked to me about this festival, it was really the friendly side, the family side”
For the 2025 season, big names in the discipline are present: the German Topas, illusionist, his compatriot Janana Felicitas, “fascinating aerial”; “the delicate poet” Australian Raymond Crowe; the Quebecer Michel Huot, mentalist the Russian Atem Shchukin, the 2023 French magic champion Mervil, accompanied by François Normag and the dancers Aurore and Maxime. Together they put on a breathtaking, hilarious and wonderful show.
Vive la Magie has established itself as the benchmark for magic festivals in Europe and has earned an excellent reputation on the international scene.
However, the festival remains in human-sized rooms. This allows us to keep the family spirit and closeness to the public which has been its trademark since its creation.
The festival plays at the Triangle in Rennes until January 12, then will tour France and Europe. At the same time, Vive la Magie offers workshops for different age groups at the Théâtre de la Papoterie with Strobineler and Gaëtan Bloom.
To date, there are around a hundred seats remaining out of the 3,000 available for the various performances.
