Zack Ryder, aka Matt Cardona,’s victory at Wrestlemania 32 is the most important of his career. It was during the night of April 3, 2016 that the wrestler won the Intercontinental title in front of a huge crowd.
For a little over fifteen minutes, Matt goes behind the scenes of this famous match in his new video. It also decrypts each sequence. The former Intercontinental champion recalls that this Ladder Match on the biggest stage in the world almost 9 years ago, he almost never participated.
He declares:
“This match, I wasn’t even supposed to do it. I was kind of floating between shows when I heard Vince McMahon say, “why don’t we do something with this guy?” With Neville injured and a ladder match coming up for Wrestlemania, I told myself this was my moment.”
After his victory, his father joined him in the ring to congratulate him. A moment he will never forget.
“I remember saying to myself, ‘What the hell did you just do, Matt?’ I’m so proud of it that I have a painting at home that illustrates this moment where I hug my father at the end of the match! I think about it every night when I go to bed and every morning when I wake up.”
Matt Cardona is very grateful to WWE to have experienced such a moment in his career. He was fired in 2020, but never closed the door on a return to the company’s rings. He has managed to reinvent himself, particularly at GCW in recent years. Could he ever experience that kind of victory in WWE again?
