To retain

Despite the end of the school holidays, family films continue to top the French box office. With 986,253 additional admissions between January 1 and 7, Mufasa: The Lion King reached the milestone of 3.5 million admissions in France. We are still far from the 10 million for The Lion King (2019) at the end of its career, but Barry Jenkins’ film is not giving up its first place.

With 654,505 admissions, Sonic 3 totaled 1.87 million admissions in France. Ultimately, the third part of the adventures of the blue hedgehog should do better than its predecessors. The first Sonic recorded 2.1 million admissions in France while Sonic 2 attracted 2.23 million spectators.

Finally, Vaiana 2 attracted 556,775 spectators and accumulated more than 7.5 million admissions in French cinemas. The return of the Polynesian heroine is a success since the Disney film has already attracted almost 2 million more spectators than the first part (5,673,236 admissions).

Great start for Franck Dubosc’s film

As for new releases, Franck Dubosc’s black comedy, Un Ours dans le Jura, has already recorded 452,342 admissions. This is less than Everyone Standing which brought in 897,452 spectators in one week but much more than Rumba la vie which had garnered 151,081 admissions in one week.

Also released on January 1, the romantic drama Love in the Present, directed by Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield, totaled 153,661 admissions.

As for continuations, En Fanfare attracted 1,853,534 spectators, Sous cuss crossed the 500,000 admissions mark, while Conclave brought 921,799 spectators to France. Note the great success of Twenty Gods by Louise Courvoisier which recorded more than 640,000 admissions.
