-Christian Lacroix, the brand’s founder, now 73 years old, welcomed this transaction, reports the Vogue Business news site. The man who today devotes himself to creating costumes for theater and opera founded his brand in 1987 with the support of the LVMH group.
The fashion house was then known for its exuberant, colorful creations with Hispanic and religious inspirations. In 2005, the LVMH group sold the loss-making brand to the American group Falic. Christian Lacroix signed his last fashion show in 2009, when the company was in receivership. Since then, the Christian Lacroix name has been used for collections of decorative products and household linens designed by its artistic director, Sacha Walckhoff.
