The Catalan country offers itself a great showcase in cinema. This Wednesday January 8, 2025, the film The daughter of a great lovedirected by Agnès de Sacy, is released in French cinemas. This romance, which features Isabelle Carré, François Damiens et Claire Duburcqwas filmed in the Pyrénées-Orientales.
The plot takes place in Catalan country
The sequences on Catalan soil were produced in 2023. “From October 16 to November 28,” recalls Agence Occitanie Films. Initially scheduled for 2024, the release of the film was postponed to the beginning of 2025.
We’ll see there Perpignan (shots had been filmed at the airport), but also towns like berries, Tresserre et Le Boulou. Canigó, the sacred mountain of the Catalans, and the Albères are also part of the cast. The trailer indeed shows superb shots of the Pyrenean mountain range:
The choice of the Catalan country is not trivial. Agnès de Sacy’s maternal family is Catalan. The director chose to shoot part of her film in her parents’ house, south of Perpignan, reveals Agence Occitanie Films.
A romance with Isabelle Carré and François Damiens
Here is the synopsis of this 1h34 feature film, produced by Pan Cinéma and Artémis Productions:
Ana (Isabelle Carré) and Yves (François Damiens) loved each other passionately then separated. Years later, their daughter, Cécile (Claire Duburcq), makes a documentary about their meeting. They meet again on this occasion. Still marked by their past love, they will then look for a way to return to each other…
This film received financial support from the Occitanie Region and the CNC. The Occitanie film commission provided logistical support. Technicians and actors from the region also participated in the production of this feature film.
Another soap opera soon on TF1
In a few days, another production filmed in the Pyrénées-Orientales will be broadcast. It is about All the blue of the sky. The new TF1 soap opera (it is divided into two 45-minute episodes, broadcast on the same evening) will be revealed on Monday January 27. Camille Lou et Hugo Becker will share the poster.
As its name suggests, this TV film is directly inspired by the eponymous novel by Mélissa Da Costa. The book was a bestseller, selling more than a million copies.
As in the original work, a large part of the plot will take place in Catalan country. And in particular to Eusone of the most beautiful villages in France. Sequences were also filmed at Angles.
