The host Nagui justified himself this Thursday on the absence of animals, and in particular cows, for the return of Intervilles, planned for this summer.
The host ofIntervilles This Thursday, January 2, Nagui provided information regarding the absence of animals for the return of the show this summer. He notably remembers having “seen a cow die on the set during rehearsals” when he presented the game show in the summer of 2004.
“These are things that stand out and for a moment, you have this little feeling of embarrassment,” he told TV Magazine.
Cities in the southwest boycott Intervilles
“Has anyone seen it, is it going to come out, are we going to be blamed, was something injected into him and I don’t know? Twenty billion things go through your head when you are a producer, therefore responsible for the ship you are on,” Nagui continued.
The latter drew a parallel with the withdrawal of the tigers from Fort Boyard, another France Télévisions program, pointing out that the decision “did not change the audience” of the program.
Already in mid-November, the man who is also the producer of this cult show returned to the absence of cows. “It’s been four years since I announced the return of the program and the fact that there would be no cows. Firstly because there are no more animals in television shows today” , he explained to Ouest-France.
France Télévisions’ decision to remove animals from the show aroused the anger of certain key towns of Interville, such as Bayonne, Dax and Mont-de-Marsan. A resident of Landes launched a petition in mid-November believing that the show was “distorted” without the cows and thatIntervilles “must remain faithful to what makes it its essence.”
“I hear the speech about tradition (…) We have, fortunately, already banned many degrading traditions which had been created in other times,” replied Nagui.
In March 2020, the return ofIntervilles had been postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This summer, we will find Bruno Guillon and Nagui in the assumed role of “two hypocrites on duty” each defending a city. At the same time, the two Miss France Camille Cerf and Valérie Bègue will be present in the arena with the public.
