According to a $250 million defamation lawsuit filed in New York Times by the director and actor, the star of Gossip Girl would have “systematically sidelined” him from the marketing of his own film.
“Lively initially refused to allow him to attend the premiere of the film,” reads the legal filing obtained by the New York Post.
“Only after much pressure did she reluctantly agree to allow Baldoni and the Wayfarer (production studio) team to attend, but under humiliating conditions.”
Justin Baldoni, who directed the film and co-starred in it with Blake Lively, went on to claim that he had been “separated” from his costars.
“The Wayfarer crew and their families, including Baldoni and (producer Jamie) Heath, were separated from the main cast, barred from theafter-party exclusive and forced to host their own event at additional cost,” the complaint states, adding that Blake Lively allegedly attempted to ostracize the plaintiff and his relatives at the premiere.
“Baldoni’s red carpet appearance was cut short, and his family and friends were confined to a makeshift holding area in the basement before being escorted to a separate movie theater after Lively left,” is -he clarified.
“Not only did Lively steal the film, she also robbed Baldoni and his team of a real opportunity to celebrate their hard work.
In response, lawyers for Ryan Reynolds’ wife told the Post : “Nothing in this lawsuit changes anything from the assertions made in Ms. Lively’s California Department of Civil Rights complaint, nor in her federal complaint.”
