Bad surprise for travelers going to the airport this Thursday early afternoon. Since 12:30 p.m., an operation has been underway following a Nedex alert, which involves the intervention of demining services.

Part of the starting zone, on the French zone side, is inaccessible. Passengers can, however, access the airport through the opposite entrance gates, on the Easyjet check-in side.

A precedent on December 20

These interventions are relatively common. Throughout Geneva, the police intervene in this way between 50 and 60 times per year. On December 20, a “removal of doubt” – as the police call it – had already taken place during a particularly busy day (67,000 passengers). This Thursday is considered more regular, with 53,600 travelers expected.

The airport invites travelers to check their flight schedules and reminds them of the importance of keeping an eye on their belongings in order to avoid any alert being triggered.
