This sum of more than 1,400 pages was published in Italy in 2020, the centenary year of the birth of Federico Fellini (1920-1993). A wedding cake or rather a crowning achievement. This pavement, 1.5 kg net weight, is signed Aldo Tassone, a lifetime dedicated to the study of the maestro’s work. This film critic and historian fell out of his chair when he first saw The Dolce Vita et Eight and a half in the 1960s. He never recovered and began by writing a thesis on the filmmaker who, flattered and impressed, invited him, from 1969, as a permanent guest to the Cinecittà studios. He was a privileged witness to the artist’s creative process and was able to talk with him for hours. Fellini the storyteller was not stingy with comments.

It is therefore not a biography but an x-ray which sheds light on the films of one of the most inventive and vibrant artists of the 20th century.e century. This is a work of forty years and…
