Since his appearance on the television show The Voice Kids on TF1, Morgan don’t be idle. Between the tour, competitions, castings and high school, the daily life of this young resident of Baziège is busy. Spotted by the creator of the Revelation of the Stars academy for young artists, the 15-year-old then left for Cannes to join IMTA, an international arts convention. Thanks to this opportunity, he gained entry into the second stage of the program, which takes place at Los Angeles. A first for the teenager who will set foot on the international scene for the first time. Interview.
Actu : What has happened since your time on The Voice Kids?
Morgan : A lot has happened in two years. My musical career began since I was regularly on the road with the “Des chants plein la tête” tour. At the same time, I continued my singing lessons, but I also started doing musical theater. I go there once a week and follow it up with an hour of jazz dancing. And when the opportunity presents itself, I participate in competitions like Revelation of the Stars. It’s a pretty busy schedule, but you get used to it.
How did you discover Revelation of the Stars?
Morgan : In fact, it all started when I took part in the “The History of Our Regions” competition. Anastasia Gaï, the creator of Revelation of the Stars, was on the jury. At the end of my performance, she came to see me to suggest that I take the entrance exam to Cannes. We accepted out of curiosity and since then everything has been coming together. Actually, there are two conventions, one in New York and one in Los Angeles. I took the exam before the one in New York, but we were notified of the departure three weeks before. So, financially, we couldn’t go there. We preferred to participate in the one in Los Angeles, which takes place over 12 days in January.
A prize pool to help him finance his American dream
Morgan’s plan to fly to Los Angeles comes at a cost. To cover the costs of traveling for Morgan and his mother, the family will have to pay €9,000. A large sum, but worth it according to the young man’s mother. A prize pool has been opened on the Leetchi platform for fans who wish to help finance this journey.
Why did you participate?
Morgan : It simply allows me to get closer to my dream. I dream of being able to perform on the international scene. So by performing outside of France and in front of American producers, I open other doors. It is also an opportunity to meet other people and have new experiences. There are 12 of us making the trip from France. The youngest is 8 years old and all the other participants are adults. And then, for the first time, I’m not only going to do singing, but also a little modeling. It wasn’t in my plans originally, but I was advised to participate in several categories to be able to get noticed and, why not, get contracts behind.
How will these 12 days in Los Angeles unfold?
Morgan : Based on the information I’ve received, it’s going to be pretty intense. We should have five days of showcase in a first hotel. I’m going to show in six different categories: swimsuit, advertising… And I’m going to sing a song that I have prepared. It looks like we will start the same process again at another hotel next. It’s not very clear to us, because there are still a lot of details to sort out, like what type of outfit to take and what I really need to prepare. But I should get through it. We’ll follow the crowd, as mom would say.
How are you feeling as departure approaches?
Morgan : I’m less stressed than I thought I would be. When I learned we were going to the United States, I was very anxious. I asked myself a lot of questions. My main fear is the language barrier. I don’t necessarily have a good level of English, so I’m not necessarily reassured. But we will have our “agents” with us to make the connection. I also had to learn a text in English for the advertising part and translate a French song into English. I could have chosen an already English song, but I prefer the French variety, so it seemed more representative to me. It wasn’t easy, especially since I could only sing for a minute. Finally, with all the work I had to do to prepare for it, I am less stressed than when the announcement was made. All that remains is to finalize the suitcase before departure!
