At the back of her chair, Audrey has prepared a special outfit for this original marathon: “Little Harry Potter pilou-pilou, obligatory to keep warm, small blanket for cocooning, small pillow, little Harry Potter socks…” This fan of the English magician intends to stay until the end, and to achieve this, she leaves nothing to chance: “Thermos with the hot drink, something to snack on…”

A little further in the room, another spectator is waiting for the start of the first session. Denise is less equipped, and a little older: “I read the books very recently, last year, at 80 years old… Until then, I had not been interested in them. I read the first and I read the others as quickly as possible.” What does she like about Harry Potter? “Language, fantasy, humor, imagination…”

The twenty spectators of the marathon will be able to enjoy it for two days. Eight films, broadcast from 2 p.m. to 2 a.m., at four euros per screening, plus a meal. The audience is very varied: there is Guy, a grandfather who accompanies his Parisian grandson, or two teenagers, Martin, “On est là pour renta à mort” and Malou, “It takes you back to childhood.”

It is Clément Boisier, cinema employee, who organizes the event. He launched the concept last year with the Lord of the Rings marathon: “We have a rural audience, very art house. There, it’s to reach a different audience, to take people from …” He doesn’t plan to stop there: “I’m going to try to do two a year, on directors like Kubrick or Spielberg.”

In the meantime, the magic will still happen this Sunday, with the last four films in the saga.
