The boxes of the teaching team at Errobi college in Cambo-les-Bains are full of projects. Here’s a new one: “Freestyles”. It is freely inspired by a modern and demanding artistic format since it calls on improvisational qualities. It is the result of close collaboration between the Department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Myriam Couloumiers, the professor of musical education and culture referent at Collège Errobi and the La Locomotive association located in Tarnos.
From the first stages, students of 4e 2 from Errobi college were fully involved in the creation of a collective work, guided and accompanied by Almä Mango, who can be described as a radiant artist of Bordeaux rap with rare pop influences. Together, they chose a theme: “equality” which inspired them and participated in writing the texts during two days dedicated to expression workshops.
Video capture
On Tuesday December 10 and Thursday December 12, their voices were recorded and then video recorded to highlight their creation, at the Magneto in Bayonne, the stage dedicated to current music. This approach allowed them to develop their creativity but also to discover artistic and technical professions linked to music and audiovisual.
For Almä Mango, “Freestyles” is therefore much more than a simple musical creation because each video capsule produced by the students must be a unique expression of their personality and their vision of the dedicated theme: “equality”.
These capsules, assembled into a collective musical fresco, whose title will be “The same”. They will reflect both the diversity and unity of young artists. Thanks to the “Growing up with culture” initiative of the Department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques and the dynamic involvement of the La Locomotive association, they were encouraged to bring their own ideas and will remember this unique professional setting for a long time.
