Luce Dufault as a gift
Most of these artists will be on stage on March 27 in Montreal for a grand launch of the album Nikamutau Florent Vollant, which will be released in stores at the same time in spring 2025. Luce Dufault and her daughter Lunou Zucchini are opening the festivities. with a first extract available since Friday on several digital platforms.
They sing accurately in the Innu-Aimun language to convey Florent's heritage in a weave of generations and friendship that endures over time. Mother and daughter perform Eku Mamu (all together). It’s a song that could single-handedly sum up this record and this show.
“I too would like one day to see humans come together. Hearing humans sing together. I would like to see them. I hope I will witness it…” – Florent Vollant.
Ambassadors of Innu culture
With his songs and his guitar, Florent Vollant has broken barriers and opened dialogue between nations. By singing in Innu-aimun, the artists in turn become ambassadors of Innu culture as Florent has done for over 35 years, whether solo or in his early days with the duo Kashtin.
Slowed down by illness in 2021, the Innu of Maliotenam has gradually resumed his artistic projects over the past 2 years. In 2024, the iconic Innu nation released his 6th solo album for National Indigenous Languages Day on March 31. He offered several shows, including Kashtin's last return to the stage at the Innu Nikamu Festival.
Florent Vollant once again closed the year in style with his traditional holiday show at the Salle Jean-Marc-Dion in Sept-Îles on December 18. Among his collaborators this year, the presence of Paul Daraîche contributed to the success of the 21e edition.
