Just three weeks after the finale of this famous reality TV show, several candidates denounced the filming conditions and filed a complaint against the production.
Reality TV shows, which have been popping up on the small screen since the early 2000s, have multiplied the concepts and have now gone very far into voyeurism and even trash to attract viewers. Just three weeks after its epilogue, one of them, based on the rivalry of several seductresses to conquer a middle-aged man with resounding professional and financial success, is the subject of a complaint from several candidates.
The complainants cite difficult filming conditions and remuneration that is too low for days sometimes twice as long as provided for in the contract signed with the production. Because to participate, the seductresses all signed a fixed-term contract providing for 8 hours of work per day. Except that “some days, they were able to work eighteen hours together”, indicates the plaintiffs' lawyer, Tilia Bopp, who is taking their case to the industrial tribunal, as revealed by Télérama this week.
The targeted broadcast is the Golden Bachelorbroadcast by M6 in September. This featured Landry, an attractive 60-year-old single man, surrounded by around twenty suitors aged 40 to 65. After several weeks full of emotions and twists and turns, it was finally the Spaniard Raquel that Landry chose during the grand finale broadcast on October 2. But the couple quickly broke up… Just like Béatrice, Catherine and Mariella, the four plaintiffs, and the production of the game, handled by Warner Bros International Television Production France.
In addition to often double hours and remuneration that is “far from the mark”, they denounce working conditions that are sometimes very limited. “For a month, we were completely in isolation, took our meals in our rooms without TV or radio, totally cut off from the world,” assured Mariella, 63, to Télérama. The article also tells that two seductresses will be injured during a football match organized to spice up the season. Except that “due to lack of medical supervision”, one of them will only be able to see the doctor in the evening.
And when they tried to complain to production, it turned a deaf ear. Worse: forced to take sick leave after the accident at the football match, one of them will leave the adventure a little too prematurely for her liking. For her lawyer, “she was fired from the show”. This is why the complaint concerns “hidden work”, but also “unfair termination of the employment contract”.
