Lyon: a modern-day Robin Hood to discover at Les Célestins

After Zaï Zaï Zaï Zaï et Much ado for nothing, Maïa Sandoz and Paul Moulin return under the gold of Célestins has Lyon with a adaptation modern of Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves d’Alexandre Dumas.

Developed in two parts, the spectacle R.O.B.I.N. first tells the story of Robin and Christabelle, his little sister, poor children, who have to steal to feed themselves and find themselves in the forest. Then the trial of Christabelle, for criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, theft… including Robin is curiously absent.

As if this absence could mean something else… The three accomplices, of whom this is the first writing by six hands, concocted a story that begins with the tale to end with the dialogues of a trial.

Théâtre des Célestins: the ROBIN show is aimed at children from eight years old

“With a certain elegance and a little impertinence, we wish to reverse the melodramatic clichés of the social tale and approach with humor and very seriously, the questions of solidarity, fraternity and commitment”, explain Clemence Barbier, Paul Moulin et Maïa Sandoz about the text accessible from the age of eight.

Two actresses and two comedians (and two casts) are on set to unravel the plot and the anachronisms that litter the writing, oscillating between fiction and reality, humor and seriousness.

Also inspired by the cinema classic, The bicycle thief of Vittorio de Sicawhich marked the director Maïa Sandoz in her childhood, R.O.B.I.N. deploys the characteristic elements of the company's work, the Theater of Argumentsuch as polyphony, the physical commitment of the performers and the illusion offered by the space of the stage. While raising questions and nourishing dialogue around class struggle, disobedience and resistance.
