The Théâtre du Jura has its champion, an artist who loves cycling as much as Roger Federer and Anton Chekhov. Its Foundation Board announced this Tuesday morning: Vaudois director Denis Maillefer, 59, will take over the management of the Jura institution in Delémont from January 15. He will succeed Robert Sandoz who, like Scapin, will jump into the chair of the historic Robert Bouvier at the Théâtre du Passage in Neuchâtel. “I couldn’t dream of a better rebound,” comments the former co-director of the Comédie de Genève between 2017 and 2023.
A new page in the recent history of a high place of culture, after a blunder which caused a lot of ink to flow. In June, Dorian Rossel was appointed head. On September 6, the Foundation Board decided, by mutual agreement with the Geneva artist, to renounce this nomination. The proceedings followed the receipt in July of an anonymous letter from a group of “revolted and concerned people”. The latter recall in particular that the director snatched two kisses from an actress in December 2020. This violence, obviously intolerable, would not be isolated, again according to these whistleblowers.
