Almä Mango mixes his rap with electro pop that seduces at the confluence of genres. A child from Pessac-Saige, Alphamass delivers powerful, very street rap and has just appeared this year on the reference show “Planète rap”. Maydo questions his dual Franco-Moroccan culture, mixes machines and traditional instruments, and filled the Parisian Boule Noire hall on November 10. Sopycal has feminist and committed rap, for which she won the creation prize in October at the Rappeuses en liberté springboard.
A year earlier, when he initiated the documentary around these four, Flo Laval did not know all that and therefore had flair. The choice of this promising quartet was made with Zoé de la Taille, a valuable rap programmer at Rocher de Palmer. “Despite a luxuriant pool of styles and aesthetics and careful accompaniment by Rocher, Barbey or Krakatoa, we have still not put Bordeaux on the French rap map,” notes Flo Laval. If Khali, BabySolo33 or Aupinard have successfully reached a critical and public milestone, many artists are at a decisive stage.

“Will I be at the time of my dreams? »
This is what interests the founding director of Far Ouest, a committed Bordeaux company that has been expanding over the past ten years between reporting and investigations, media education, particularly in middle and high schools, and audiovisual productions. “Will I be at the time of my dreams? », he summarizes to evoke these rappers of the same generation, experienced and dominating their subject, only waiting for a little luck to salute the years of work and passion.
So, he will follow them over the course of a year, between sober intimacy, rehearsals, live performances, enthusiasm and doubts. Objective: to interweave these four portraits of artists who know each other little or not. Bring them together and offer them a joint concert, the final of a documentary that he is offering to France 3 Régions, for whom Far Ouest produces one or two 52-minute formats per year, of young Aquitaine farmers (“Young shoots, why become a peasant at 20?) at the Tou’Win Rugby Club, an inclusive team regardless of sex or gender (“Mixed Pride”).
Engagement
“The concert is on the 5the character,” explains Flo Laval, who has not yet worked on the editing of the eighty hours of rush. Among them will be the live recording of this Thursday, a unique evening where the sets of the four artists will follow one another, surely punctuated by a final joint piece. Concert made possible by the commitment also of Le Rocher and Sauce. Prod., a young Bordeaux association which is establishing itself in the production of concerts in the metropolis.
Far Ouest hopes to broadcast the documentary around May 13, 2025, the day of the presentation of the Flames, an annual ceremony dedicated to urban cultures, due to confidentiality still being too great within the Victoires. This universe generates 70% of streams today in France. “Bordeaux Rap Game” (provisional title) makes its contribution.
