Solo is a rapper, DJ and producer who began his career in the 80s as a dancer on the show “HIP HOP” on TF1. He was 17 years old. In “ORIGinaL”, he looks back on the pivotal years of his career.
He recounts, in particular, his meeting in the nightclubs of New York and Paris with a young Frenchman who recognized him and who ended up hosting him at his home. This young Frenchman is Vincent Cassel. Thanks to him, Solo meets his little brother Mathias Cassel, aka Rockin’ Squat. Together, they will form one of the most important French rap groups, Assassin.
Solo also talks about how the rivalry between him and NTM’s JoeyStar has been fueled over the years.
And he returns to the revelations he makes in his book Write my name down on your list – My History of Hip Hop. Indeed, in this work released in mid-November 2024, he recounts having been sexually assaulted in his adolescence by the famous American DJ Afrika Bambaataa. “ It took me a while to recognize it.
