Takashi Murakami unveils a monumental work in Paris
While his beautiful exhibition at the Perrotin Matignon gallery has just ended not without success, Takashi Murakami continues to make Paris his playground. As proof, we can now find one of his works outdoors, near the Bois de Boulogne and the Jardin d’Acclimatation. Decorated in gold, this work represents a parent and their child, in the form of the plastic artist’s emblematic smiling flowers.
The structure is also held on a white Louis Vuitton trunk, adorned with multicolored logos. For those who assiduously follow fashion news, perhaps you will have recognized the very first capsule collection dating from 2003 between the artist and the brand. Diverting the world of the French house with a lot of color, this capsule sparked enthusiasm and will therefore be revisited from January 2025.
This is not the first time that Louis Vuitton has collaborated with an artist from the land of the rising sun. In 2023, the French brand had erected a giant statue of Japanese designer Yayoi Kusama in front of its headquarters, right next to the Samaritaine, not without reactions from many Parisians.
