DAK’ART: VISITORS ABUSE WORKERS

Despite the instructions given not to touch the works, the temptation is great for visitors who irresistibly give in. Mamadou Tété Sané, mediator in the Design section, regrets these unacceptable acts knowing that many visitors do not take care of the essentials around the works… The mediator also shares with us his impressions of this edition and talks about his job. On other Biennale sites, some artists also expressed the same complaints.

Dak’art is an opportunity for certain cultural actors such as mediators to be able to strengthen their professions. The mediators are in fact the intermediary between the works and the visitors.
In the absence of artists or exhibition curators, they answer visitors’ questions and provide them with some information according to the briefing they themselves received from the artists.

At the old courthouse we met Mamadou Tété Sané, who is from this community. By expressing one’s feelings about debt 15th edition of Dak’art a. deplores the behavior of certain visitors towards works of art.
For him, young people especially do not ask questions to understand the possibly coded message of the work, but are content to take photos with works to the point of mishandling them. According to Mamadou Tété Sané, it is imperative that a cultural education policy be put in place on a national scale
