“At the beginning of September, the police received information that Marius Hoiby had repeatedly made unwanted contact with the woman who is the victim in the incident. […] “August 4,” police said in a statement Saturday.

Based on these reports, “the police imposed a restraining order on her but recently they learned that Marius Hoiby had raped her and it was therefore decided to arrest her due to the risk of reoffending,” the police said, specifying that the arrest took place late Friday.

“He wanted to burn her”: the son of the Crown Princess of Norway at the heart of a scandal after attacking a young woman

According to Norwegian media, police found a knife embedded in one of the walls of the woman’s bedroom in the apartment during the incident on August 4.

In addition, the police now suspect him of having committed reprehensible acts against three other people: domestic violence against two women, and threats against another person.

Mr Hoiby’s lawyer, Oyvind Bratlien, told Norwegian broadcaster NRK that his client denied the allegations.

He had confessed in mid-August to having attacked his girlfriend, describing himself as “under the influence of alcohol and cocaine, and saying he suffered from “mental problems”.

Mr Hoiby was raised by Mette-Marit and Haakon along with his half-siblings, Princess Ingrid Alexandra, 20, and Prince Sverre Magnus, 18, but unlike them he has no official public role.
