Many Internet users have criticized the quality of the special effects of this live-action feature film, with Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot, scheduled for March 19, 2025 in theaters.
An overview which is far from unanimous. Disney has shared a new trailer for the remake of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in live action, scheduled for March 19, 2025 in theaters.
But since their release, images from this film directed by Marc Webb, which stars Rachel Zegler in the lead role and Gal Gadot in the role of the evil queen, have been the subject of much criticism.
Disney fans criticize the studio in particular for the poor quality of the special effects and computer-generated images used to represent certain characters, such as the seven dwarfs.
On social networks, many of them expressed their disappointment, accusing Disney of completely moving away from the magical spirit of the original film, released in 1937.
“This new Snow White is undoubtedly the ugliest thing ever brought to the screen,” wrote one user in a comment on the trailer on YouTube. “Disney is killing all the great classics, it’s crazy,” wrote another.
A controversial film
Since the announcement of its release, this new adaptation of the Brothers Grimm tale causes controversy. After criticism regarding the choice of Rachel Zegler, of Colombian origin, to play the famous princess Snow White, the star of Game of ThronesPeter Dinklage, also showed up very critical towards Disney about this remake project.
“On the one hand, you’re progressive, and on the other, you keep pushing this damn backward story about seven dwarves living together in a cave – but what are you doing?” he declared in a podcast.
In August, David Hand, son of the director of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs original released in 1937, also has strongly criticized this remake. According to him, his father, also named David Hand, and Walt Disney “would have turned in their graves” while the studio “destroyed” their creation, he said in the columns of the British newspaper The Telegraph.
Written by the Brothers Grimm in 1812, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs has been the subject of numerous adaptations, starting with the legendary Disney cartoon in 1937. More recently, Julia Roberts slipped into the skin of the evil queen, facing Lily Collins in Snow White, in Snow Whitein 2012, but also Charlize Theron and Kirsten Stewart, in Snow White and the Huntsmanthe same year.
